January 16, 2009

Wow, two weeks into the new year and I haven't posted a thing yet....sorry about that! A lot has been happening in our lives.

We had a Happy New Year. We celebrated with some neighbors. Josie and Ally stayed up and partied until about 11:00 pm. That was about as long as they could hold out. After Josie, Jamie and George left, Ally went to bed. Jerry and I cleaned up a little and I was in bed at 11:50. No I couldn't wait 10 more minutes for the ball to drop, I'm lame, I know.

On January 4, we had the Crow family over for a lasagna dinner. Kristi, Julie, Rob, and Pat, along with spouses and children. There were 22 people all together. It was very nice seeing everyone! Loving cousins....aren't we cute? (me, Amy, Julie, Paul, Kristi)
These are the little girl cousins....Ally, Lauren, Addison, Skylar, Olivia, Kirbi.

I returned to work on January 6 and because classes started the 8th I was extremely busy getting ready for that. I always work extra hours the first week of classes. And this time around wasn't any different, except for the fact that I caught a cold and it has been slowing me WAY down. It feels like everyday is getting worse and worse.

January 9, Jerry went in for Lasik Eye Surgery. We drove to Lansing and got there around 10:30. His appointment was scheduled for 11:00. Good thing we got there early because he had a TON of paperwork to fill out. He got it all completed by 11:00 and they got us right in. First he saw a technician who took different measurements of his eyes in 4 different machines. Then he saw the eye doctor who looked at his eyes and told us about the surgery. Then he saw the surgeon who looked at his eyes and told us a little more about the surgery. All in all we were there for 3 hours. The surgery lasted about 15 minutes total. Each eye took about 7 minutes. It was super fast and there weren't any problems. Jerry got the custom lasik done and by the next day he had 20/20 vision.
Jerry before surgery, with glasses.
Jerry had to wear sunglasses for a day or two after surgery because the light was bright and he couldn't touch his eyes....and of course Ally had to be like daddy.
Jerry's eyes after surgery...a little bloody, but it will go away sometime...hopefully!

January 10, my mom took the girls and me to the Children's Museum. It was our first experience there and to say the least, it was AWESOME! The girls loved it and couldn't get enough of all the fun things to do. We will definitely be going back there! After lunch at Burger King we dropped my mom off at her house and OG fell asleep on the way home. When we got home the babies went right up to the room to take a real nap, but of course they didn't sleep. Ally and I went to see Kristi, Steve, and the kids for the last time before they had to go back to North Carolina. It was a nice visit, but busy with everyone stopping by to say their good-byes.

This week has been rough for me, working a lot, getting more sick, and trying to be a mom all at the same time. I just hope this weekend brings a LOT of rest and relaxation to get well.
