Pictures I've Promised, July 31, 2008

I know that I've promised pictures and haven't followed through. I honestly have not had the time to download them and figure out how to put them on this silly blog...until tonight. The girls actually all went to sleep farely well for me, thank God, because Jerry wasn't here tonight, so I was a single mom for the evening. I love when the girls are good for me, there is a God, and he's GREAT!

Now I just have to figure out how to do a slideshow!

Today was a busy day for us. We had an Open House at our new house. We had many people show up and it was fun to grill out and visit with our family and friends. The girls had a great time too with all their friends. We had a few accidents with Ally's Jeep, but no one got seriously injured and we didn't have to take anyone to the hospital so that was a plus! Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. We have a lot of extra food, so everyone is invited over for the rest of the summer!

We also met some more neighbors! Everyone that we've met so far have been great and all their kids are around the same age (or a little older) as our girls. Most of the kids are boys, but that's ok the girls don't really know the difference right now. I'm sure we'll have many more years of playing with the boys until they realize that boys are yucky! We're so lucky to have such great neighbors and be in such a great neighborhood!

Thank you to those of you that came to our Open House to share such a wonderful and exciting time in this new chapter of our lives!

Today was the last day cousin's Kristi, Steve, Skylar, Drew, and Addison were in town. Tomorrow morning they leave at 4:00 am to go back to NC. It's always sad when they leave, but they're always ready to go back home...even though we all try to convince them to move back to MI when they are here. Steve, Drew, and Addison came over for pizza and we invited Grandpa Bob to join us too. The men (Jerry, Steve, and Bob) had fun playing in the pole barn while I tried to keep track of 5 kids...it was interesting. Once Lauren and Olivia went to bed it wasn't too bad, until the kids started yelling. I got a little embarrassed that of what the neighbors would think, so I just went into the house to let the guys deal with the kids. I had peace and quiet for about 10 minutes! :) Addison and Ally were so cute together. They played quite a bit together while they were in town. The girls are only about 2 months apart in age and they look like they could be sisters. One day I was babysitting Addison and when Jerry came home I said to him "too bad we didn't have two sets of twins because those two play so well together." He looked at me like I was crazy! And of course after I said it, I realized it did sound a little crazy! But truth be told, they were really cute together! We're going to miss having them around. We look forward to their next visit, unless we go there first!

Today was full of fun and excitement for all of us. We went to my cousin Patti's cottage which is located on Bill's Lake in Newago. All four of Patti's children (Dave, Rob, Julie, and Kristi) were there with their family's, and of course my mom and Bob were there too. The girls had such a great time playing in the sand and the water. Ally stayed out all day and got a little burned, but not too bad. Jerry and I took a ride on the sea-doo over to Rob's cottage which is across the lake from Pat's. Rob got married June 28 and as a wedding gift my mom, Paul, and I got them a margarita maker...so of course he had to make me one, so I made him drink one with me since Jerry doesn't really care for them. The girls had another long day, but did extremely well once again. We were planning to leave the cottage around their bedtime (7:30-ish) but got a late start out because Kristi asked Jerry to tag along in a kyack behind the pontune boat in the boat parade. Jerry and Steve (Kristi's husband) were quite the show, I guess! According the everyone that was on the boat (which basically included everyone except me, Bob, Lauren, and Olivia) Jerry was hilarious because he kept falling out of the kyack. To me it wasn't as funny because Lauren and Olivia were exhausted once again and needed to sleep. But we were all good sports and finally got on the road about 9:40, and of course all three girls passed out right away (Ally being the first, for once!). All in all, it was a fun day!!!

Happy 4th of July! We had a very busy day today...first we went to the Ada Parade with Grandma & Grandpa Bommelje, Aunt Anne & Uncle Matt & Jude & Ava and their grandparents, and Nanny Jenn and Joe. It was really fun and the girls (well, mostly Ally) got a lot of candy! After the parade we went to the Ada festival/craft show. Ally went on the blow up train with Jude a few times. They were really cute in it and had a great time. But after we ate lunch we had to get home for nap time. Lauren and Olivia were quite exhausted after not having a morning nap. All three took a good nap and then we played outside with the neighbor boys for awhile before dinner. After dinner we met Grandma & Grandpa Bommelje and Nanny Jenn & Joe downtown for the fireworks. It was a long 4 hour wait before they actually started the fireworks, but it was fun and the show was amazing! The girls all liked it for the most part, but Olivia did get a little scared with the loud cracks and booms! (We learned a few days ago during a thunderstorm that she was afraid of loud sounds, so we were a little prepared.) The girls were all troopers, but they were exhausted and fell fast asleep once we got to the car at 11:20 pm. What a day!

Hello Everyone,
I have decided to get back on the bandwagon with the communications about our family! I know you're all excited about that...and if you're not, oh well...

If you haven't heard, we've moved. We've been in our "new house" (that's what Ally calls it) for almost a month now and we LOVE it. We have all kinds of room and each of the girls could have a room to themselves, although the little girls still share a room. Ally's loves her new bedroom. It's light purple with dark purple polka dots and still an animal "theme", if you will. Lauren & Olivia's room is pink with a flower "theme". Since the move, the little girls have not shared the same bed. They have finally been separated, and they love it! Their cribs are still very close together so they could actually touch and play together if they wanted to, but I don't think that happens that often....or maybe it does and that's where the giggling comes from when they're not sleeping.

Jerry loves his new pole barn too. It's stuffed to the max and he doesn't even have all his toys in it yet. He needs to get organized in my opinion. I am loving everything about the new house. I love having a garage that we can actually park in, I love having space and everything has it's own place, I love opening the windows and letting the breeze blow in, and the fresh air, and a house that is new and complete and not unfinished! It's just all so great! We're so blessed! We had to wait awhile for it, but we're finally in it and we plan to stay for quite awhile!

We're still settling in, and I think it's going to take awhile, but it's fun and we're loving it. The neighborhood is wonderful, FULL of young couples and young kids. Our yard is nice and big and the girls are in it most of the time. Funny how they went from watching TV all the time to playing outside most of the time...and it's not just because it's summer...it's because our old house didn't have much of a good "yard" and we lived on a busy street and the TV was always right there in front of us (now it's in the basement, out of sight!).

As for our old house...well, they're about to tear it down. Jerry drives by every day on his way home from work, I on the other hand have only seen it a couple of times (I did drive by today). It's still there, but barely there. Many people contributed to taking things out of it and it's just got an outside shell to it now. It will be a little sad to see it down, but it needs to come down. It was a good home to us and that's where all three girls were born, but at the same time, we're very happy in the new house! Jerry did drive Ally by it a week or so ago....I think that was a little traumatic for her. She came home and said to me "mommy, someone messed up our old house! Maybe someone will paint it to fix it up." Yeah, if that doesn't crush her heart, it will once she sees that it's gone!

Today I took the little girls to the doctor for their 15 month well baby visit. They are still on the small side, but they are still growing, so that's good news! Lauren weighed in at 18.9 lbs (which is less than the 5th percentile) and Olivia weighed in at 19.4 lbs (which is the 5th percentile). Both of them measured 29 inches in height (but I think she measured Lauren long) which is the 10th percentile. And of course their heads are HUGE, like Jerry and Ally, at 18.25 inches and that's the 70th percentile! They each got 2 shots and did great!

Tonight we're going to meet some more neighbors. We're all getting together to do some fireworks. It should be fun!

Well, I hope this will be a good way to keep in touch with you and I hope you enjoy it. I will post some pictures when I download them from my new camera....

Take care and HAPPY 4th of JULY! :)
