July 4th weekend, 2009

What a great weekend, tiresome, but great! We were busy at usual with lots of fun activities. The girls made it and will be crabby for about 3 straight days...oh well, they'll get over it, (but Jerry might not).
We started off going camping in Newaygo with a few other couples and their kids. We drove the "bus" yet again, and it made it, yet again (my parents' bus on the other hand...well we won't go there). Anyway, we got to the campground around 3:00 on Friday because I had some homework issues that needed to get taken care of before we set off. We parked and settled in, made some dinner, and played for awhile before the kids had to go to bed.
Saturday morning we slept in, made some bacon and eggs for breakfast, packed up our things and headed to Patti's cottage on Bill's Lake. Kristi, Steve, and the kids are up from NC, they came for Paul's wedding and will be here for a total of 2 weeks (they're leaving this Saturday). We LOVE when they visit because they only come up twice a year. Anyway, we spent the whole day with the Crow family and my mom and Bob were there too. The girls loved playing in the water and going on the boat.
(A new found family...Lauren, Kristi, Ally, & Jerry! Aren't they cute?)The weather was crap until about 5:00 and then the sun came out and it got a little warmer. We went to Rob & Dynl's cottage for fireworks because their neighbor hung 150,000 firecrackers from the trees and lit them off at dark. (It was amazing!)It was the loudest thing I've heard in a long time! The girls were in the cottage because it was SO loud! I did go in there to be with them because they're not always fond of loud noises. After the firecrackers were done we went back outside, lit sparklers roasted marshmellows, and watched the fireworks around the lake. It was an awesome night and I think we're going to make this our new 4th of July tradition! After fireworks, we went back to the campground to sleep. This morning we woke up, ate some breakfast, packed the 'bus' up and went back to Patti's cottage. We didn't plan to stay, but we're easily convinced since the sun was shining and I needed some sun! Steve took the kids (not mine) tubing and I spotted, then when Skylar was done, I hopped on the tube and went tubing with Drew. We had fun, until he was done...then Steve made Jerry spot Kristi and I tubing...needless to say Steve wasn't all that nice to us. We both flew off once each, which wasn't too bad since the water was really rough and I couldn't see a darn thing because the water was splashing in my face the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME! All in all it was fun and a nice break from the cold weather and no sunshine.

So now we're back home, back to more homework, and back to work in 2 days.
